How and why we obtain personal information
American Credit Counselors, Inc., takes great care to protect personal information about you and when we use it, we do so with respect for your privacy. We may use personal information about you to service and maintain your account, process transactions in your account or respond to inquiries from you or your Certified Financial Counselor. Develop, offer and deliver products and services or to fulfill legal and regulatory requirements. American Credit Counselors, Inc., may collect public and non-public personal information about you from any of the following sources:
From forms completed by you, via the Internet and telephone. Examples of information gather include your name, address, social security number and other financial information.
Transactional activity in your account.
Other interactions with American Credit Counselors, Inc., (for example, discussions with our customer service staff or information you enter into our web sites).
Information from consumer reporting agencies (for example, to assess your creditworthiness).
Information from other third-party data services (for example, to verify your identity and to better understand your service needs).
You or your Certified Financial Counselor regarding your preferences (for example, your choice of electronic statement delivery, or the screen layout you specify if you use our Internet sites).
Other sources with your consent or with the consent of your Certified Financial Counselor (for example, from other institutions if you transfer positions into American Credit Counselors, Inc.)
How we protect information about you
American Credit Counselors, Inc., considers the protection of personal information to be a foundation of customer trust and a sound business practice. Privacy, security and service in our online operations are just as critical as in the rest of our business. American Credit Counselors, Inc., employs all of the safeguards described previously, along with the following Internet-specific practices.

How long do I have to opt-out?
You are entitled to thirty (30) days to respond before your personal data will be disclosed. You must return the notice so that it reaches the company within 30 days after it was sent to you.

Information sharing with other non-affiliated third parties and your opting out rights
Unless we receive your notification to opt out within the specified time frame, we may share all the information that we collect, as described above, with additional types of non-affiliated third parties, such as:
Financial service providers, such as life insurance companies for who one or more of our affiliates acts as an agent.
Non-affiliated companies, such as firms that offer value-added packages of products and service including discount travel services, discounted hotel accommodation and shopping services.
Former Customers
Our code of ethics requires that your information remains confidential. Even if you are a former customer, these policies also apply to you. We treat your non-public personal information in the same way as we do with our present customers.
If you decide to close your account, the American Credit Counselors, Inc., will continue to adhere to the privacy policies and practices as described in this notice.
We encourage you to correct any inaccurate personal information relevant to you or joint account holders and bring it to our attention as soon as possible, so that we may rectify your records.
