How and why we obtain personal information
American Credit Counselors, Inc., takes great care to protect personal information about you and when we use it, we do so with respect for your privacy. We may use personal information about you to service and maintain your account, process transactions in your account or respond to inquiries from you or your Certified Financial Counselor. Develop, offer and deliver products and services or to fulfill legal and regulatory requirements. American Credit Counselors, Inc., may collect public and non-public personal information about you from any of the following sources:

• From forms completed by you, via the Internet and telephone. Examples of information gather include your name, address, social security number and other financial information.
• Transactional activity in your account.
• Other interactions with American Credit Counselors, Inc., (for example, discussions with our customer service staff or information you enter into our web sites).
• Information from consumer reporting agencies (for example, to assess your creditworthiness).
• Information from other third-party data services (for example, to verify your identity and to better understand your service needs).
• You or your Certified Financial Counselor regarding your preferences (for example, your choice of electronic statement delivery, or the screen layout you specify if you use our Internet sites).
• Other sources with your consent or with the consent of your Certified Financial Counselor (for example, from other institutions if you transfer positions into American Credit Counselors, Inc.)

How we protect information about you
American Credit Counselors, Inc., considers the protection of personal information to be a foundation of customer trust and a sound business practice. We employ physical, electronic and procedural controls and we regularly adapt these controls to respond to changing requirements and advances in technology.
At American Credit Counselors, Inc., we restrict access to personal information to those who require it to develop, support, offer and deliver products and services to you.

How we share information about you with third parties
American Credit Counselors, Inc., does not share personal information about our customers with unaffiliated third parties for use in marketing their products and services. We may share personal information with the following entities:

• Unaffiliated service providers (for example, printing and mailing companies, marketing service providers, and other entities who may provide services at American Credit Counselors, Inc., direction).
• Government agencies, other regulatory bodies and law enforcement officials (for example, for tax purposes or for reporting suspicious transactions). Other organizations, with your consent or as directed by your Certified Financial Counselor (for example, if you use American Credit Counselors, Inc., as a financial reference in applying for credit with another institution), or as permitted or required by law (for example, for fraud prevention).

Our service providers are obligated to keep the personal information we share with them confidential and use it only to provide services specified by American Credit Counselors, Inc.

Privacy online
Privacy, security and service in our online operations are just as critical as in the rest of our business. American Credit Counselors, Inc., employs all of the safeguards described previously, along with the following Internet-specific practices.

We use firewall barriers, encryption techniques and authentication procedures, among others, to maintain the security of your online session and to protect American Credit Counselors, Inc., accounts and systems from unauthorized access.

Cookies and Browsers
This site uses a feature of your browser called a 'cookie' to assign a 'Client Identification (Client ID)'. 'Cookies', by themselves, cannot be used to find the identity of any user. Your 'Client ID' automatically identifies your computer - but not you - to our servers when you visit www.acchelp.org or other ACCI web sites. Unless you specifically inform us, (for example by completing an application). However, if you are browsing our web sites we will never know who you are, even though we assigned you a 'cookie'. Our web sites contain links to other web sites. Please be aware, if you use a link to visit the web site of another company, we cannot be held responsible for the privacy practice or the contents of that company or its web site.

We may also place cookies and similar files on your hard drive for purposes such as security, to facilitate site navigation, and to personalize your experience on our site. Our cookies do not identify you by name as an individual or by account number.
When you visit American Credit Counselors, Inc., Internet sites, we may collect technical and navigational information, such as computer browser type, Internet protocol address, pages visited, and average time spent on our Web sites. This information may be used, for example, to alert you to software compatibility issues, or it may be analyzed to improve our web design and functionality.
We may use third-party service providers to help us analyze certain online activities. For example, these service providers may help us measure the performance of our online advertising campaigns or analyze visitor activity on our web sites. We may permit these service providers to use cookies and other technologies, such as web beacons or pixel tags, to perform these services for American Credit Counselors, Inc. Opting out
If you prefer that we not share your non-public personal information with third parties, you may opt-out, except those permitted by law, by using one of the four formats listed below. Once we receive your request, we will cease sharing this information as soon as reasonably practical. Our opting-out policy applies to all accounts you hold individually, joint accounts with other persons.

How long do I have to opt-out?
You are entitled to thirty (30) days to respond before your personal data will be disclosed. You must return the notice so that it reaches the company within 30 days after it was sent to you.
Opting-out can be achieved by using the Mail-in Form below.

Information sharing with other non-affiliated third parties and your opting out rights
Unless we receive your notification to opt out within the specified time frame, we may share all the information that we collect, as described above, with additional types of non-affiliated third parties, such as:

• Financial service providers, such as life insurance companies for who one or more of our affiliates acts as an agent.
• Non-affiliated companies, such as firms that offer value-added packages of products and service including discount travel services, discounted hotel accommodation and shopping services.

Former Customers
Our code of ethics requires that your information remains confidential. Even if you are a former customer, these policies also apply to you. We treat your non-public personal information in the same way as we do with our present customers.
If you decide to close your account, the American Credit Counselors, Inc., will continue to adhere to the privacy policies and practices as described in this notice.
We encourage you to correct any inaccurate personal information relevant to you or joint account holders and bring it to our attention as soon as possible, so that we may rectify your records.

Definitions

(Once we have received your request, we will cease sharing this information as soon as reasonably practical. Our opt-out policy applies to all accounts you hold individually, joint accounts with other persons. Your request to opt out, regarding joint accounts, is determined how you completed the mail-in form above. Please read the form carefully and complete it according to your requirements.)
